Since 1985, WrestleMania has attracted tens of thousands of fans to sports arenas and stadiums alike for the roughest, toughest, and most climatic WEE event of the year. WrestleMania, considered the forerunner in World Wrestling Federation events, has earned the nickname “The Showcase of Immortals” for a reason, these wrestlers won’t go down!
Vince McMahon took a risk in when he bought the WWE in 1982, and he hit the nail right on the head! The WWE is not only one of the most prevalent events in entertainment sports, WrestleMania is one of the best selling sports events in the world! That being said, if you’re looking see WrestleMania 25 at Reliant Stadium in Texas this year, you should probably buy your WrestleMania tickets now because they’re sure to sell out in record time!
Madison Square Garden had no idea what was hitting them when the first installment of WrestleMania took to the ring. With only 19,121 fans in attendance, compared to the nearly 80,000 that attend each year, WrestleMania One became the largest event on television in 1985. Hulk Hogan, who has recently experienced a slew of unsavory controversy, and Mr. T teamed up against Paul Orndorff and Roddy Piper- in a surprise flub, Hulk Hogan won after an interference from Bob Orton Jr.
Last year’s WrestleMania sold a whopping 74,635 WrestleMania tickets and you can bet that every last ticket holder packed themselves into the Citrus Bowl of Orlando, Florida. The main event featured Edge putting his World Heavyweight Championship belt at risk against The Undertaker. Highlights of the event included a chokeslam and the Last Ride on Edge; later Edge returned the favor by hitting The Undertaker with a video camera. It was the Gogoplata submission hold that led to Edge’s tap out and The Undertaker’s claim of the World Heavyweight Champion belt heightening his WrestleMania record to 16-0.
This year’s WrestleMania is sure to reach a whopping 80,000 fans or more as rumors swirl about this year’s contenders. There are currently no official lineups posted for WrestleMania 25, but gossip has reached an all time high as a possible match between WWE legend Hulk Hogan and Stone Cold Steve Austin may be in the works.
And if that isn’t enough, top notch celebrities always make an appearance at these events, so expect to see some superstars! Past visitors include Snoop Dogg and Alice Cooper. Some celebrities have even laid the Smackdown in the ring including- Cyndi Lauper, Ozzy Osbourne, Ice-T, Jenny McCarthy and Pam Anderson. Performers included Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Reba McEntire, Boyz II Men and much much more. So you’re pretty much guaranteed a good show when you land yourself some WrestleMania 25 tickets.
